O'Connell's Limerick banquet, the Suez Canal debate, and Zurbano's failed Spanish insurrection dominate this issue.
- Daniel O'Connell, speaking at a Limerick banquet on 20 November, vowed to spend every remaining day of his life working for Irish independence, warning England it was 'surrounded by a wall of diamond which lets nothing penetrate.'
- French journalists unanimously prefer a direct maritime canal from Suez to ancient Pelusium over Waghorn's Cairo–Suez railway, citing Napoleon's engineer Le Père, who estimated the canal's cost at just 17 million francs.
- Spanish rebel General Zurbano's entire infantry laid down its arms on 17 November; Zurbano himself fled toward Upper Aragon with his two sons and four followers, attempting to cross into France.
- A German Jew, Emmanuel Philippsen, was sentenced in Norway to a 4,000-franc fine or thirty days on bread and water for entering the kingdom illegally; unable to pay, he is serving the sentence while his family subsists on public charity.
- Frédéric Ozanam, founder of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, was appointed professor of foreign literature at the Paris Faculty of Letters, replacing the deceased Claude Fauriel.
- An eyewitness account of the Nottingham railway collision describes a brother-in-law hurled dead through a carriage door, women running screaming across ploughed fields fearing a boiler explosion, and a watch driven into a victim's entrails in a separate crash on the Great Western line.
- Cobbler-poet Chevreuil, condemned to death for smothering his 25-year-old mistress Célina Brown with a pitch-resin mask, has lodged an appeal in cassation while showing complete unconcern, answering questions only in monosyllables.
- Philarète Chasles surveys German intellectual life, noting Franz Baader's argument that societies governed by 'organic' bonds multiply their collective power — just as 2 multiplied four times yields 32, while 2 added four times yields only 10.
